Join us for a concert presented by Boston Classical Guitar Society featuring The Perlak/Tronzo Duo.
The Perlak /Tronzo Duo bridges the worlds of classical and modern improvised music. Their repertoire consists of co-composed works that draw on new ideas and elements of their traditions. Their program includes works for solo and duo guitar in a true American style.
Kim Perlak’s inclusive approach to the classical guitar embraces new music. Her performances and recordings have been featured on National Public Radio, at the Yale Guitar Extravaganza, and at Boston GuitarFest. Her playing was praised by The Austin-American Statesman as, “thoughtful, enchanting, vivid…a songwriter’s circle without the lyrics.” She holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, Yale University School of Music, and Stetson University.
David Tronzo is a master slide guitarist, improviser, and composer. He has been voted among the “Top 100 Guitarists of the 20th Century” and the
“Top Ten Jazz Guitarists” by Musician Magazine; “Best Guitarist in NYC” by the New York Press. David was one of thirty musicians worldwide to receive a nomination for the CalArts Alpert Award in the Arts for music.
Kim Perlak and David Tronzo serve on the faculty of Berklee College of Music, where she is Chair of Guitar and he is Professor of Guitar.
Registration for this event opens Saturday, February 1 at 9:00 AM.
