Meet the Author: Ann Hood

Monday, May 167:00—8:30 PMMultipurpose Room 138Tufts Library46 Broad Street, Weymouth, MA, 02188

Join us as we welcome Ann Hood and her memoir, Fly Girl. Ann is the author of fourteen novels, four memoirs, a short story collection, a ten book series for middle readers and one young adult novel.

Ann's career as a best-selling novelist and memoirist took off from a surprising runway: the jump-seat of an airplane. As a TWA flight attendant, from 1978 to 1986 Hood crisscrossed the airways from Columbus to Cairo, carving chateaubriand and scooping sundaes in the first-class cabin, performing CPR and contending with red wine spills and cantankerous celebrities, and—when the cabin lights dimmed and passengers drifted off—drafting the pages of her first book. With Fly Girl, Hood invites us to fasten our seatbelts and travel beside her as, through grueling flight pairings and midair romances, face-offs with the airline industry’s sexist standards, and the thrill of flying solo in foreign countries, she finds adventure, and her voice, at 35,000 feet.

The event will be followed by a book sale and signing.
