Meet the Author: Natalie Jacobson in Conversation with Rhondella Richardson
Wednesday, June 227:00—8:30 PMMultipurpose Room 138Tufts Library46 Broad Street, Weymouth, MA, 02188
Join us to hear local broadcasting legend, Natalie Jacobson, discuss her new book, Every Life a Story: Natalie Jacobson Reporting. Over a span of forty years in broadcast news, Natalie Jacobson became one of the most trusted people in New England. Generations of viewers came to know and love her and her late husband, Chet Curtis, with whom she co-anchored NewsCenter 5 on Boston’s WCVB TV. Throughout her career as a reporter and anchor, Jacobson chronicled countless lives, always taking care to keep the focus on her subjects. Now, in Every Life a Story, she’s finally telling her own story—and sharing her own views. A second-generation American of Serbian descent, Natalie recounts a journey possible only in the United States—learning to speak English via immersion once she started school in Chicago, seeking to enter the world of television news during a time when “no girls need apply,” and going on to become the first woman to co-anchor an evening newscast in Boston. In doing so, she paved the way for generations of women. A book that captures the extraordinary relationship Natalie Jacobson built with the people of New England, Every Life a Story reminds us what local news can do to unite a community.
Natalie will be in conversation with Emmy award-winning journalist and co-anchor of NewsCenter 5’s weekend morning newscasts, Rhondella Richardson.
A book sale and signing will follow, courtesy of Storybook Cove.
